The evenings are getting cooler, and the days are getting shorter. Swimsuits are on clearance, and the aisles are full of back-to-school supplies and backpacks. Before we know it, we'll be saying goodbye to 80-degree weather, and hello to falling leaves!
Which means... it's time to start thinking about our fall wardrobes.
Luckily, the arrival of fall doesn't mean we have to retire all our summer outfits. In fact, we enjoy repurposing many of our pieces and wearing them during cooler weather. Here are some of the ways you can keep wearing your summer favorites throughout the fall.
1. Pair longer dresses with button-down tops
We LOVE our maxi and midi dresses. Comfy and cute, dresses like this one make for the perfect summer outfit. Luckily, they can also be worn in cooler weather. Try throwing on a button-down shirt over the top and tying it in the front along your natural waistline. You can tuck the shirt up underneath itself in the back to make it shorter if needed.
2. Switch out the sandals for booties
One of our favorite things about fall? We can break out the booties! If the weather is still fairly warm, you can pair tank-tops with jeans and cutout ankle booties like these ones for a classic, yet fun look! Picking accents in fall colors -- like rust, mustard yellow or orange -- will give your outfit even more of a "fall" vibe.
3. Invest in a military jacket
We can't get over how cute this jacket is. The best part? Military jackets can be thrown over your favorite summer tank-tops to create a relaxed fall look. If you're heading out for the evening, dress them up with a pair of booties like these.
4. Throw a cardigan over tanks, camis and t-shirts
Remember that tank-top you just wore under your military jacket? You can switch up the look by trading the jacket for a cardigan instead!
You'll want to ensure that you pair slouchy or loose-fitting cardigans with tighter fitting tops so you don't add visual weight to your figure. You'll also want to make sure you stick to three levels of layering or fewer to keep the look feeling fresh and clean. To dress up the outfit, throw on a pair of dark-colored skinny jeans and some statement jewelry like these earrings. To dress it down, rock some solid leggings like these.
No need to stash your skirts in the back of your closet this fall. You can completely transform your look by pulling on a sweater like this one. Sweaters made out of thinner material work best because you can tuck them into the front of your skirt.
With so many different ways to mix and match our favorite clothing pieces, it's no wonder fall is one of our favorite times of the year! Make sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for more fall outfit inspiration.
